Notes from the far right

What will they take next -- my MTV?

"South Park" itself, as the author explains in a chapter on the show, mercilessly exposes liberal pieties about politics and society with an intensity and wit that has perhaps never before been seen on television. Mr. Anderson ties its humor to a long tradition of anti-elitist humor and sarcasm, which has been a staple of American social criticism but which seemed out of place in the liberal consensus. (Gerald J. Russello, "Exposing liberal pieties," Washington Times, 5/3/05)

Pat Boone: Nice tune, but can you dance to it?

America's militant agnostic minority has totally distorted the meaning of separation of church and state. It doesn't mean banning religion and religious values from the public square. It doesn't mean Howard Stern's off-color (and frequently off-the-wall) "humor" is protected speech, while the free expression of religion is banned. (Pat Boone, "Religion in the public square," Washington Times, 5/1/05)

Double shot from Ann

Democrats oppose Janice Rogers Brown because she's black. (Ann Coulter, "Drag Liberals Into the Light," AnnCoulter.Com, 4/28/05) (see our Judges Debunker)

We keep hearing Tom DeLay's name uttered in angry, accusatory tones, but I still don't know what law he's supposed to have broken. (Ann Coulter, "The Devil is Out of Details, FrontPageMagazine.Com, 5/5/05)

Take it easy on the pills

You Democrats are aborting yourselves so bammo let's open the floodgates bring in some illegals and make sure first and foremost they vote. (Rush Limbaugh, “The most watched radio program in American,” 5/5/05)

So, what exactly is "being diplomatic"?

Being a competent diplomat is not always the same as being an affable, pleasant person to be around. Sometimes, a willingness to play political hardball, which can include displays of temper toward others, becomes essential to getting things done in order to advance the interests of one's country; the failure to do so on occasion can be a sign of incompetence. (Editorial, "The strange case against John Bolton," Washington Times, 5/2/05)

I "feel" that you are an idiot

Moral relativism means that murder, for example, is not objectively wrong; you may feel it's wrong, but it is no more objectively wrong than your feeling that some music is awful renders that music objectively awful. It's all a matter of personal feeling....  Only if God, the transcendent source of morality, says murder is wrong, is it wrong, and not merely one man's or one society's opinion.  ...That different religious people will at times come up with different responses in no way negates the fact that at least they may be pursuing moral truth. In secular society, where there is no God-based morality, there is no moral truth to pursue. The consequences may be easily seen by observing that the most morally confused institution in America, the university -- where good and evil are often either denied or inverted -- is also its most secular. (Dennis Prager, "Moral absolutes: Judeo-Christian values, part XI," Town Hall, 5/3/05)

Bankruptcy of listening skills

Democrats tell us the American people share their vision, yet many of their leaders won't be honest about who they are and what they believe. Please tell me how it's possible that Hillary Clinton could be the odds-on favorite among committed liberals if she truly believes in the center-to-right positions she's been mouthing lately? She doesn't, and her base knows it. It's a conspiratorial deceit of staggering proportions. The party is morally bankrupt, lacking the integrity to be square with the people about its core principles. (David Limbaugh, "Bankruptcy of values and ideas," Town Hall, 5/3/05)

Did he miss that whole Abu Ghraib thing?

Gandy says the new manual bars physical or mental torture, slapping or humiliation. I can see the terrorists getting hold of this manual and telling their killers they have nothing to fear if they are captured by the "weak" Americans. What's next, instructing our troops to say "please" and "thank you"? (Cal Thomas, "Modified interrogation tactics: good news for the enemy," Town Hall, 5/2/05)

Yeah, great analogy

Imagine someone you may not know or like taking your daughter without your knowledge to another state to have her appendix removed. Or to have a hysterectomy. Or even to have her wisdom teeth removed. (Kathleen Parker, "The politics of pregnant girls," Town Hall, 4/30/05)

Fear good, peace bad

Life was better under Soviet rule. Well, actually, let me rephrase that. What I mean is, I liked it better when Americans lived in fear of the Soviets. It ruled. (Jonathan David Morris, "The big red machine," Renew America, 5/3/05)

Holy #$@%!$

I understand that in Egypt a woman is encouraged to wear the hijab. In fact, I believe it's mandatory, especially if she is going to open fire on innocent and unarmed tourists with an AK-47. Did you know that Christians in Muslim countries are not even allowed to pray or wear a small cross? If they do, they are thrown in prison and tortured. Do Muslims see this as oppression? Of course not, Christians have no rights. Christians are barely considered human, unlike Jews, whom Muslims consider to be monkeys. (Barbara J. Stock, "Christians of the world: unite!" Renew America, 5/1/05)
