No, I love gays, as long as they're not gay or anything

[Gay Christian activist Mel White] continually takes my words out of context to suggest that I have an anti-gay agenda. This is patently untrue. My ministry has a history of reaching out to homosexuals; thus, we have seen several former gays renounce their lifestyle after they have committed their lives to Jesus Christ. (Jerry Falwell, "Soul Force comes to town," World Net Daily, 4/30/05)

Breaking news for Christians from the 700 Club...

Have you ever looked at Suzanne Somers and said, "I can't believe she's over 50?" You're not the only one. The television star of Three's Company and Step by Step is the envy of Hollywood with her slim figure and glowing smile. Find out the secret she calls her "fountain of youth". Plus, is it possible to be "Slim & Sexy Forever"? ("Suzanne Somers, Slim and Sexy Forever," 700 Club)

Oh yeah, we're running scared

The liberal Democrats are in for a real problem on ethics because of their attacks on House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX). The House leadership has withdrawn Ethics Committee changes they previously made, making it easier to call for Ethics Committee hearings. This is what the liberals wanted until Speaker Hastert gave it to them this week. Now the shredding machines are busy all over the Hill. The fact is that dozens of Democrats may now find themselves facing Ethics investigations over gifts and trips abroad. Mrs. Pelosi, the House Democrat Leader, herself took a junket to Puerto Rico paid for by lobbyists, in clear violation of the ethics rules of the House. Watch for the Democrats to back off their demands for hearings on Tom DeLay. (Religious Freedom Coalition "Legislative update," 4/28/05)

Global warming is a false idol

PAT ROBERTSON: Do you think Ted Haggard is a little naïve? Do you think he understands what he is getting into [with environmentalists]?

SEN. JAMES INHOFE (R-OK): Well, I called him up. In the first article I saw, they mentioned the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and I called up Ted Haggard, and he said quite frankly, well, I don’t want to be part of a group like that. They also mentioned Chuck Colson and Jim Dobson. I called both of them up and they said, no, they are lying. We are not a part of that we are not for the global warming agenda that’s the poster child of the far Left in fact, we know better, we preach against it. But they use their names, and how many people are out there who saw the names of Chuck Colson, Jim Dobson and Ted Haggard who thought, well that must be the team to join?

ROBERTSON: What is the agenda of the radical Left? They talk about aren’t environmental concerns sort of like a god to them?

INHOFE: It is. Look, Pat, I don't have to tell you about reading the Scriptures, but one of mine that I’ve always enjoyed is Romans 1, 22 and 23. You quit worshipping God and start worshipping the creation -- the creeping things, the four-legged beasts, the birds and all that. That’s their god. That’s what they worship. ("The growing threat of far-left environmentalism," CBN News)

Still blaming it on Al

Al Gore and some of the Democratic Senators made this debate about religion, we didn't. Unfortunately, it is clear from Al Gore's comments that he is the one that wants to exclude people from the public square based upon some religious litmus test. All Americans have a voice in our system of government. We are supporting the American way, discuss, debate and decide, not flip flop and filibuster. (Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council and organizer of "Justice Sunday: Stopping the filibuster against people of faith") (see also Debunker: Judges)

Uh, then who exactly would that be?

The judicial supremacists are just plain wrong when they assert that the rule of law requires the U.S. Supreme Court to be accepted as the final arbiter of constitutional questions. (Phyllis Schlafly, "Liberals rally around judicial supremacy," Town Hall, 4/25/05)

God’s Wrath for Sunbathers

It was a mere coincidence that the event took place the day after Christmas, a Sunday when thousands of Western tourists were lounging in the sun on paradisiacal beaches, more concerned with bodily pleasure than with the birth of Christ. ( Luiz Sérgio Solimeo, American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property).

So why aren’t we all smited for eating too much food every single Christmas?

That Silly Bill of Rights

The liberals falsely claim we need an "independent" judiciary to protect our precious rights. ( Phyllis Schafly, Eagle Forum, 4/05/05).

At least without rights, maybe Phyllis Schafly wouldn’t be allowed to say whatever she wants in her column.

Strange Times Indeed

Unfortunately, Bush's descent from the clouds to the aircraft carrier enraged the very people who do not like his war. We are living in abnormal times when the aversion to power, authority, and masculine strength is exceptionally strong among a large minority of Americans. ( Fred Hutchinson, Renew America, 4.27.05).

Maybe by abnormal he means “modern.”
